Former Nigerian Footballer Dies In Belgium

A former Nigerian footballer, Philip Osondu Mast, has passed away in a Belgian hospital after a “brief illness” on Friday, December 13.

Jameela News gathered that Osondu went to the hospital by himself from work on Thursday, after feeling a bit distressed.

The deceased footballer was the recipient of the World Cup Golden Ball at the 1987 under-16 tournament in Canada.

This online news platform understands that Osondu continued his footballing career in 1988 in Belgium where he had great challenges until he retired in the early 2000s.

At the time of his death, he was based in Belgium and working there.

He passed away at the age of 48.
