Ahmed Salkida, the only journalist known to have access to the Boko Haram hideouts, made this known on Twitter.

He claimed that Leah Sharibu had given birth to a baby for a Boko Haram commander, adding that he is unaware of the child’s gender.

Salkida wrote, “Why I wonder, do we pretend that leaving Leah behind won’t result in pregnancy?

“Since the terror group announced condemning her to slavery, is there any step or collective focus on preventing similar occurrences? She’s a mother, but I don’t know about the gender of the baby.”

Jameela News reports that on February 19, 2018, Sharibu among other students from the Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi in Bursari Local Government Area of Yobe state were abducted by the Boko Haram insurgents.

When the other students were released, Sharibu was held back by the insurgents because she refused to renounce her Christianity for Islam, some students said.

From a recent report, however, this online news platform learned that she was forced to accept Islam and married off to a top Boko Haram Commander.
