Chelsea star, Callum Hudson-Odoi has tested positive for the deadly coronavirus.


Jameela News reports that Chelsea announced on Friday that 19-year-old Winger, Hudson-Odoi had contracted the deadly coronavirus.

This announcement was made hours after Arsenal’s head coach, Mikel Arteta, revealed that he had contracted the virus.


This online news medium learned that all the first-team coaches and staff of the Football club will now self-isolate.

Chelsea star contracts coronavirus

According to Chelsea club’s statement, Odoi was sent home on Monday from the club’s training ground in Cobham after he exhibited flu-like symptoms.

The statement read, “Chelsea men’s team player Callum Hudson-Odoi had a positive test result for coronavirus returned this evening.


“Chelsea personnel who had recent close contact with the player in the men’s team building will now self-isolate in line with Government health guidelines.

“These will include initially the full men’s team squad, coaching staff and a number of the backroom staff.

“It is expected that those who did not have close contact with Callum will return to work in the coming days.”

The Pride of London Club also announced that the men’s team building at their training ground will remain closed.

The statement continued, “In the meantime, the men’s team building, one of several separate buildings at our training ground, will remain closed.

“The rest of our training facility, Stamford Bridge and our other facilities are operating as normal.”

Chelsea joins clubs affected with the pandemic of the virus after Juventus, Arsenal and Olympiakos emerged as clubs with the pandemic of Coronavirus in Football.

WHO declares Coronavirus a global pandemic

This alarming report occurs days after the World Health Organization, WHO declared the coronavirus officially known as COVID-19 a global pandemic.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a briefing in Geneva that COVID-19 can now be classed as a pandemic.

His words, “COVID-19 can be characterised as a pandemic.

“We have never before seen a pandemic sparked by a coronavirus.

The spread and severity of the deadly new coronavirus, which has infected more than 110,000 people and killed more than 4,000, is “alarming”.

“We’re deeply concerned both by the alarming levels of spread and severity and by the alarming levels of inaction.”

Cases of Coronavirus officially known as COVID-19 emerged in Wuhan, Hubei District of China around December 2019.

Since the outbreak in December, all the continents in the world except Artarticha have reported cases of patients receiving treatment from the virus.

The virus entered Nigeria, a West African country on February 27 after an Italian foreigner arrived in Lagos State.

Currently, in Nigeria, there are two cases of Coronavirus with more than 40 people quarantined to control the spread.

Italy remains the worst-hit European country with the virus, followed by Germany.

The United States recorded over 1000 cases of patients who tested positive to the virus in March.

Other countries with an alarming number of Coronavirus cases are Iran, SouthKorea, Hongkong, Myanmar, Australia among others.
