Breaking: Lagos State Records Two New COVID-19 Deaths

Lagos State, the epi-centre of Coronavirus in Nigeria has recorded two new COVID-19 deaths as cases in the state rise to 512.

Jameela News reports that the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, made this announcement in a tweet, on Thursday, April 24.

He said 2 (two) new COVID-19 deaths have been recorded in the state as of Wednesday, April 22, 2020, bringing the total number of deaths to 18 while 107 patients have so far recovered in the state.

In the same vein, about 74 new cases were also recorded on the same day, bringing the total number of cases in the State to 512.

He tweeted: “COVID-19 update as at 22nd of April, 2020: 74 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Lagos on the 22nd of April, 2020, ” he said.

“The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Lagos rises to 512. Lagos recorded 2 more COVID-19 related deaths.”

Prof Abayomi also urged residents in the state to practice the use of face mask in order to reduce the spread of the infection within communities in the state.

He concluded: “Using facemask to reduce COVID-19 infection is, therefore, a responsibility we all must embrace.

“Let’s #MaskUpLagos to stop further spread of #COVID-19 infection! “Stay safe #ForAGreaterLagos.”
