Nnamdi Kanu’s Safety Must Be Guaranteed, World Igbo Congress, WIC Tells FG
The World Igbo Congress (WIC) has urged the Nigerian authorities to secure the safety of Nnamdi Kanu, the self-declared leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), stating the secessionist leader’s rights must be maintained.
Jameela News reports that In a statement signed and delivered by its chairman Anthony Ejiofor and spokesperson Basil Onwukwe, the World Igbo Congress urged the federal government to handle the IPOB leader following internationally recognized laws.
On the other hand, the WIC says that the Biafran agitator was not apprehended in the United Kingdom and has urged the British government and the world community to look into the circumstances surrounding Kanu’s re-arrest.
“The UK government needs to investigate the collision of any other country or party in this saga,” the Igbo group further stated.
“The government of the US, the UN and the international community to take note of the ongoing abuse of human rights in Nigeria including this matter of abduction of Nnamdi Kanu.” His safety must be guaranteed.
