IGP Sets Up Panel To Decide Penalty For Abba Kyari

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba has set-up a four-man panel to investigate embattled Deputy Police Commissioner, Abba Kyari.
Jameela News reports that Kyari has also been suspended following allegations levelled against him by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation(FBI).
According to a statement by Usman Baba, Kyari would not be punished until the panel concludes the investigations.
In the statement signed by the Police spokesman, Frank Mba, Usman Alkali said that following the allegations levelled against Kyari about his involvement with notorious internet fraudster and celebrity Ramon Abbas nicknamed Ray Hushpuppi, he has been suspended.
The statement read, “The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc (+), NPM, fdc has recommended the immediate suspension of DCP Abba Kyari, the Head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), from the Service of the Nigeria Police Force, pending the outcome of ongoing internal investigations touching on him.”
“The SIP is also to obtain detailed representation of DCP Abba Kyari to all the allegations levelled against him, conduct further investigations as it deems fit, and submit recommendations to guide further actions by the Force Leadership on the matter.”
The police spokesman noted that the suspension would create an enabling environment to carry out internal investigations over the allegations by the American security authorities.
Kyari was indicted by Hushpuppi who is facing charges in the US after he fell out with his associate, Vincent who aided in defrauding a Qatari businessman $1.1 million, according to the Doj statement.
Jameela News obtained from online sources that Vincent contacted the businessman who reported the case to foreign authorities.
Aggrieved Hushpuppi sent his pictures to the celebrity cop who arrested Vincent for a month, other sources had alleged.
It was also further claimed that Hushpuppi wired some money to the bank account of the Deputy Commissioner with proof of payment to the account of the policeman by the FBI.
Despite the evidence, Kyari denied all the allegations, claiming that he arrested Vincent for attempted murder.
Meanwhile, the committee set up by the police headed by Joseph Enugbuike said that the Criminal Investigation Department will review “all the allegations against DCP Abba Kyari by the US Government as contained in relevant documents that have been availed the NPF by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”
