Colleague confirms Nollywood actress Sola Onayiga’s death.

Jameela News reports that Nollywood veteran Sola Onayiga, popularly known for her role as Ireti in Fuji House of Commotion is dead.

Sola Onayiga’s death was confirmed by the founder of Best of Nollywood Awards, Seun Oloketuyi on Monday, July 18.

Jameela News learned about the Fuji House of Commotion Cathering Pratical Solution star’s death after the death of popular Nollywood star Ada Ameh was announced.

The Fuji House of Commotion star died after a two-week long admission into the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Intensive Care Unit.

According to the BNA boss, she died in the early hours on Monday.

“I have just been informed that the accomplished stage and screen actress and fellow of Theatre Arts Auntie Sola Awojobi Onayiga has passed on,” said Oloketuyi via WhatsApp. “Auntie Sola, who is best known for living delightfully the role of Ireti aka cooking practicals in the defunct television sitcom ‘CHECKMATE’ Reportedly passed on this morning,” Oloketuyi wrote on his Instagram page.

The Secretary General of the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP), Mr. Makinde Adeniran also confirmed her death.

“I have just been informed that the accomplished Stage and Screen Actress and Fellow of Theatre Arts Auntie Sola Awojobi Onayiga ‘has’ passed on.

“Auntie Sola, who is best known for living the role of Ireti aka Catering practical in the defunct television sitcom ‘Fuji House of Commotion delightfully’, Reportedly passed on this morning. Journey well, Ma! Journey Well!.” he wrote in a statement on Monday.

Who is Sola Onayiga?

She is a Nollywood veteran with over three decades experience in filming. The accomplished screen thespian was a professional actor with a degree in theatre arts.

Onayiga was a diversified and eloquent actress who acted in both English and Yoruba movies. She was distinct in her acting and played a remarkable role in the growth of Nollywood.

She would be remembered for her roles in Fuji House of Commotion, Checkmate and a host of other movies.
