Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel have been released by their abductors, the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, confirmed on Wednesday.
Jameela News reports that the two veteran actors who were abducted in Ozalla, Enugu State, were released after the abductors were “touched by the spirit of God”.
The president of AGN, Ejezie Rollas had announced that the body raised N1.2 million for the release of the two Nollywood actors, but was mocked by the abductors.
The abductors had made a demand of $100,000 ransom for the two actors.
In a statement by Monalisa Chinda Coker, the Guild’s Director of Communication, on Wednesday, the AGN informed the two actors were not harmed by their abductors.
“On behalf of their families, the National President expressed our heartfelt appreciation to the Nollywood industry and Nigerians at large for the support and prayers during this trying period.
“He urged members to be security conscious on and off movie sets and always take precautionary measures on their security at all times.”
