Just In: 10th NASS: Akpabio, Yari Nominated For Senate President

10th NASS: Senator Godswill Akpabio and Aziz Yari have both been nominated for the position of Senate President at the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly in Abuja, Tuesday, June 13, 2023.

Jameela News reports that Barr Chinedu Akabueze, who is the Clerk of the Senatate took the roll call of the Senators-elect.

Senator Akpabio of the All Progressives Congress was nominated by Senator Ali Ndume while Senator Yari was nominated by Senator Ishiaku Abbo.

Jameela News reports that Senator Godwill Akpabio of the APC is a past Governor of Akwa-Ibom State while Aziz Yari a member of the People’s Democratic Party is a member of the PDP.

On Monday, ahead of the 10th inauguration of the National Assembly, President Bola Tinubu had mobilized support for Akpabio.

However, reports reaching the newsroom reveals that Akpabio and Yari are in a tight race during the election.
