  1. President Bola Tinubu signed the Nigeria Data Protection Bill, 2023 into law on Tuesday. The announcement was made by Dr. Vincent Olatunji, the National Commissioner of the Nigeria Data Protection Bureau (NDPB), during the NDPD Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP) validation workshop in Abuja.
  2. Femi Gbajabiamila, the former Speaker, officially assumed the position of Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, June 14.
  3. Abdulrasheed Bawa, the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS). He reportedly arrived at the DSS headquarters around 9:02 pm.
  4. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) issued a major directive allowing banks to sell dollars at any rate in the Investor and Exporters’ Window of the foreign exchange market. The purpose was to enable a free float of the national currency against the dollar and other global currencies. However, this led to a significant depreciation of the naira, which closed at N664.04 per dollar at the I&E Window on Wednesday.

  8. Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the presidential election, submitted new evidence to the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC). The evidence includes statistical reports from inspectors regarding the February 25 presidential election, challenging the declaration of President Tinubu as the winner of the poll.
  9. Haruna Sunday, a prisoner who escaped from the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja, was arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command. The arrest was made in connection with the alleged theft of property from a house in the Masaka community in the Karu Local Government Area of the state. This information was confirmed by the State’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel.
